Challenge Coins have a rich military history to identify membership in a military organization.  As the legend goes, a WWI lieutenant ordered small medallions for the pilots in his squadron.  One of the pilots was lost behind enemy lines and was able to make it to the allies and prove his identity by the this challenge coin bearing the squadrons insignia.  Since then, challenge coins are used to proudly show membership for our service men and woman, reservists and civilian support staff.
